COMMUNICATING A CRISIS

THE SPINOFF x WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION

Production Company: Daylight

As an agency of the United Nations, the World Health Organization plays a critical role in the development and promotion of public health worldwide. When the pandemic hit in 2019, WHO became more prevalent and publically important than any other time in recent history.

It was around this time that The Spinoff, a New Zealand magazine publishing daily online, was busy trying to combat misinformation by spreading science-backed messaging on effective social distancing, mask guidance and more. Animations by illustrator Toby Morris went viral on social media, leading to WHO discovering the material, endorsing it, obtaining a license for its own official distribution, and going on to commission hundreds of assets via The Spinoff's digital agency Daylight in subsequent years.

We created this 2021 showreel to highlight our work in partnership with WHO up to that point.
